Beginning

Welcome to our web site and a way of working through difficult thoughts and feelings. Psychotherapy and Counselling is a general term for therapeutic approaches that help people get a better understanding of their feelings, experiences and behaviours.
Psychotherapy is used to help deal with emotional suffering and problems which might include depression, anxiety, relationship problems, phobias, trauma and eating disorders.
There are different approaches and modalities of psychotherapy treatment. DM Consulting offers counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and groups. Counselling and Psychotherapy , involves meeting on a regular basis - typically once a week to explore one's internal feelings and experiences in life and to help alleviate difficulties.
Within the safe and confidential relationship that clients develop with a therapist, discussions about concerns in life can be explored. Through this exploration, patterns of thinking and feelings that contribute to the problems in life can begin to reveal themselves. It is this growing awareness that gradually opens up the possibility for change, this can lead to increased satisfaction and a greater sense of authority in one's own life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, is a different form of Psychotherapy and concentrates more on the here and now, rather than going back into a person's past. It links up the relationship between a person's thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It is more task orientated and often requires "homework" to be done between sessions. It is not suitable for all clients and a careful assessment is always undertaken before embarking on any therapy.
